Learn more about how your student can be equipped to stand for what is right, grow in his or her beliefs, and make a difference in your community through involvement with a Generation Joshua Student Action Team this year!

How can educated teens build leadership skills, serve their communities, and form friendships—while at the same time influencing the upcoming national elections? Join host Mike Farris and his guest on today’s Home School Heartbeat to hear what Generation Joshua offers students across the nation!

Mike Farris:
Today I’m joined by Will Estrada. Will’s the director of Generation Joshua, a program that gives Christian teens a great experience to get involved in the political process. Will, welcome to the program!

Will Estrada:
Mike, great to be here!

Mike:
Generation Joshua plans to send out 2,000 homeschooled students this fall in Student Action Teams. What will these Student Action Teams do?

Will:
Mike, first, these Student Action Teams will give students real-life training in how they can make a difference in our nation. All of our teams are led by volunteer staff who are committed Christians and also knowledgeable about the issues. Second, these Student Action Teams will help to elect pro-homeschooling conservatives to Congress.

Mike:
How do you choose the races that GenJ students are involved in?

Will:
All candidates are fully vetted by the HSLDA Political Action Committee Board. These candidates have to submit a detailed questionnaire and have a background that demonstrates their commitment to limited government, and protecting the right of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children.

Mike:
Next time we’re going to hear from Representative Michele Bachmann, who has seen GenJ’s Student Action Teams firsthand because they’ve helped her in her races. I’m Mike Farris.
