Homeschooling thriving here

Parents in the District of Columbia must overcome many challenges in order to exercise their right to homeschool. School officials regularly attempt to impose requirements that far exceed the current homeschool regulation.

Home School Legal Defense Association Legal Assistant Gabe Waddell recently attended a meeting of the Bolling Area Home Educators, where homeschooling families learned of opportunities available to them and networked with other like-minded families. "These families are a perfect example of why the homeschool movement has been so successful," Waddell reported. "They have not let hardships hinder their goals; instead, they have used them as a stimulus to work together, making sure that every interested family is given the opportunity to educate their children in the way God directs them."

HSLDA would like to commend every family across the nation who has made a stand for freedom in the face of opposition. Homeschoolers in D.C. are a living example of how effective teamwork and dedication can be.
