As the NCAA explained in a January 2005 letter to Home School Legal Defense Association, homeschool students will now be able to obtain a preliminary analysis of their high school subjects before they graduate from high school.* The preliminary analysis will highlight any deficiencies in the homeschool program immediately. Rather than having to wait until the last minute to discover that there is a problem with his paperwork or homeschool program, a student will now have more time to prepare for the sports opportunities he is seeking. "We are confident that the new policy will prove to be a significant step towards smoothing the application process," said HSLDA President Mike Smith, "and we stand ready to assist any member family who experiences problems." In conjunction with adding the preliminary analysis option, the NCAA has also changed some academic requirements. Read the details in the NCAA's "Quick Reference Sheet".
