Berrien County Threatens Truancy Referral
Berrien County Intermediate School District sent a Home School Report Form to a Home School Legal Defense Association family, accompanied with this threat: “Failure to return the form could result in a truancy referral being filed by the local school district for violation of the compulsory school attendance act.”
However, Michigan home schoolers have no legal obligation to fill out this or any other form. HSLDA attorney Scott Woodruff has sent a letter of explanation to Berrien County Intermediate School District on behalf of the family.
