Marriage Penalty Tax Relief

The House Ways and Means Committee is currently debating several tax relief bills. Although this year’s budget will accommodate only a handful of the tax cuts proposed, the committee has decided that the Marriage Penalty Tax Elimination Act will be included.
Under our present tax code, over 21 million married couples are taxed an average of $1,400 more per year than unmarried couples who live together. Home School Legal Defense Association and many other pro-family organizations are urging Congress to stop this injustice through the Marriage Penalty Tax Elimination Act sponsored by Congressman Jerry Weller (R-IL).
Please contact your congressman and ask him to “support the Marriage Tax Penalty Elimination Act.” The Capitol switchboard number is (202) 224-3121.
