Support Religious Freedom
On June 26, 1991, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1991, H.R.2797, was reintroduced in the United States Congress by Representative Stephen Solarz [D-NY]. The RFRA restores the time-honored test protecting the free exercise of religion. That test was eradicated by the United States Supreme Court in a surprise 1990 decision.
H.R.2797 needs and deserves your support. Ninety-eight congressmen had signed as co-sponsors to this legislation as of September 16, 1991; their names are listed below. If you do not see your Congressman listed, write and urge that he/she support the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. If your representative is already a co-sponsor, let him/her know that you are grateful for their support. Although RFRA has not been formally reintroduced in the Senate, letters urging support from Senators are also appropriate.
