HSLDA kicked off our year-long 25th anniversary celebration with an open house at our Purcellville, Virginia, office on March 28, 2008.

Many of the parents who attended the high school symposium earlier that day were joined by families from the D.C. area to celebrate with us.

HSLDA President Mike Smith warmly welcomed the crowd. “As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we want to remember the reasons we started homeschooling and renew our vision for the future,” he said. “And we want to thank you, our members and fellow homeschooling families, for standing with us for freedom.”

Patrick Henry College President Graham Walker extended his welcome to the families as well and briefly described the vision of PHC for preparing Christian men and women to lead our nation and shape our culture.

Christopher Klicka, senior counsel and HSLDA’s first full-time employee, reminisced about the early days of homeschooling, the big battles, and God’s faithfulness. HSLDA staff enjoyed the opportunity to greet members and share our hearts in the common cause of homeschooling.
