WASHINGTON, D.C.

No News Is Good News, So Far

On June 12, 2007, Mayor Adrian Fenty gained authority over the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The mayor states on his education website that he is committed to improving the academic performance of every student and involving parents and the school community in reform efforts. To the benefit of our D.C. members who choose to privately educate their children, the website doesn’t appear to mention homeschooling at all.

Washington, D.C.’s public schools are in great need of attention and it appears that the mayor is rightly more concerned with focusing his attention and resources there than on unnecessary scrutiny of homeschoolers.

Home School Legal Defense Association will continue to monitor the mayor’s website for updates.
