OKLAHOMA

Truancy investigation dropped

A truant officer sent a letter to a Home School Legal Defense Association member family in Oklahoma City telling them she had reason to believe their son was not in school. She told the family to call her, and threatened to refer their case to a prosecutor if they did not.

Our member family asked for help. HSLDA Attorney Scott Woodruff wrote a letter, assuring the truant officer that the family was in full compliance with Oklahoma law and a member in good standing of HSLDA.

Shortly thereafter, the officer told us that all charges against the family had been dropped.
