Bakersfield corrects error
The Bakersfield R-IV School District sent all local residents a newsletter containing a "reminder" that stated:
"Those who plan to home school must send a letter to the superintendent's office stating there [sic] interest to do so and list the names and ages of their children."
In fact, parents are not required to send any form of notification of their intent to homeschool to their superintendent.
Home School Legal Defense Association staff brought this mistake to the attention of district officials, who apologized and promised to print a correction in their next newsletter.
