About 100 Contacts Resolved During 198485 School Year

Since late August 1984, HSLDA has helped about 100 families resolve their contacts with school authorities without going to court. HSLDA attorneys either coached the families on how to talk with the school authorities, or HSLDA attorneys talked directly with the officials. Many HSLDA families were contacted during the fall of 1984, but HSLDA does not have totally accurate statistics on that time period. Here is a state-by-state breakdown of the 30 contacts that occurred after January 1, 1985.

In these contacts, a school official would ask the family for more information about what it was doing. Usually, HSLDA attorneys would help the parents develop a strategy of what to say to the school authorities. In most cases, the school officials would be satisfied after one or two conversations with the parents, and would leave the families alone. Sometimes, the school officials demanded more compliance, and the HSLDA attorneys would have to step in. All 30 contacts since January 1 were resolved favorably.
