The Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) of California presented its 2nd annual Friendship Award to SHLDA? board member and attorney J. Michael Smith.

CHEA gave the award to Michael Smith May 18 at its convention held at Melodyland in Anahiem. Approximately 1700 people attended.

CHEA gave the award to Michael Smith for his 3 years of legal work defending California home school families in court. Smith, who works in Los Angeles, is widely regarded as the top California attorney on home schooling and one of the best home school lawyers nationwide.

CHEA gave its first Friendship Award last year to Focus on the Family. This radio show, conducted by Dr. James Dobson, promotes home schooling nationswide. The program originates from Southern California.
