VERMONT

Bureaucratic turnover

Relations between Vermont homeschoolers and the state department of education have been becoming more difficult over the last few years, with an increasing number of families receiving unpleasant surprises in the mail from department officials. Home School Legal Defense Association has learned that Natalie Casco, the department's homeschool liaison for many years, has decided to resign. It will take some time to find out who will take her place, and whether the change will make things easier or harder for Vermont families. Until matters stabilize, we request all Vermont HSLDA member families to forward to us copies of problematic department of education correspondence. By working hard and working together, Vermont homeschoolers can preserve the blessings of liberty while the department of education makes internal changes.
