LOUISIANA

Homeschoolers brace for contacts

Each year, Louisiana homeschoolers wait to see what the department of education will do this time. Last year, families across the state were unpleasantly surprised to get letters from Sue Millican, a department of education official, who rejected their homeschool notices. Home School Legal Defense Association wrote many letters on behalf of member families, waiting for the department to take some decisive action. It never did. So it is unclear what, if anything, the department of education intends to do this year.

HSLDA member families who use HSLDA's forms (available at www.hslda.org) can count on our unhesitating defense of their notice of intent paperwork. If we allow the state department of education to continuously add new informational requirements simply by changing their forms, our rights under law will be slowly but surely eroded. By standing firm, homeschoolers can preserve the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.
