Educating the educators

Ohio's homeschool regulations are clear and specific, yet many school district officials have apparently never read them or don't believe them. Time after time, Home School Legal Defense Association has had to remind Ohio superintendents the basics of homeschool law.

Unfortunately, many Ohio homeschoolers also appear to be unaware of their rights. Across the state, superintendents are making unlawful demands and the majority of homeschoolers promptly comply. This leads the superintendent to believe that he or she has the authority to force everyone to follow a new district "policy."

One way to hold the line on liberty is to educate the school officials directly. HSLDA Attorney Scott Somerville will be speaking to approximately 65 superintendents and principals at an education law seminar hosted by Kent State. An opportunity like this enables HSLDA to prevent problems before they happen. Your membership in HSLDA makes this kind of preventive action possible.

HSLDA thanks each member family for their part in preserving freedom. Those who know their rights and insist upon them help guard freedom for every homeschool family.

— Scott W. Somerville
