Tax exemption for school curriculum

Members of the South Carolina General Assembly recently introduced two new bills that will affect home school families.

House Bill 4393 and Senate Bill 806 were authored by Representative Merita Allison and Senator John Hawkins, respectively. The bills grant an exemption from state sales tax for "textbooks, books, magazines, periodicals, newspapers, and access to on-line information . . ." used in a home school.

Home School Legal Defense Association supports this type of legislation and recommends that home educators contact their legislators asking them to vote for this tax relief.
