Reported for educational neglect

Home School Legal Defense Association recently assisted a member family in Opelika after the family was reported to the Lee County Department of Human Resources for educational neglect. The family contacted HSLDA for assistance after a social worker came to their home seeking entrance to inspect the premises and interview each family member. The mother wisely denied this request and called HSLDA. We immediately faxed a letter to the social worker informing her that the mother had previously filed a church school enrollment form with the local public school superintendent. We also warned the social worker about violating the family's constitutional rights by entering their home without legal justification. The family has received no further contact from authorities. — Dewitt T. Black
