Home School Legal Defense Association recently assisted a member family in Opelika after the family was reported to the Lee County Department of Human Resources for educational neglect. The family contacted HSLDA for assistance after a social worker came to their home seeking entrance to inspect the premises and interview each family member. The mother wisely denied this request and called HSLDA. We immediately faxed a letter to the social worker informing her that the mother had previously filed a church school enrollment form with the local public school superintendent. We also warned the social worker about violating the family's constitutional rights by entering their home without legal justification.
