Teacher certification effort blocked

In an apparent effort to turn the clock back 30 years to a time when home schooling was virtually nonexistent, Rhode Island legislator Jonathan F. Oster introduced a bill to prohibit parents who are not certified teachers from teaching their children at home. His one-man crusade against home education was brought to a screeching halt by the efforts of the Rhode Island Guild of Home Teachers, HSLDA, and home school mothers and fathers.
