Neighbor Complains
A neighbor submitted a complaint against a Gary-area Home School Legal Defense Association family, claiming they were neglecting the education of their children. When the Lake County Department of Social Services initiated an investigation, the family contacted our legal department.
HSLDA explained to DSS that the family was in compliance with Indiana law relating to private education. DSS referred the case to its attorney, Cindy Kambesis. She has taken no further action against the family and has failed to reply to three follow-up phone calls in the last three months. It appears the matter has been dropped. — Scott A. Woodruff
