Fourth Amendment Surprise

Joyce Johnson, Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Home Educators, recently attended a forum in which Marion County social workers expressed surprise and disbelief that they are subject to the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Subsequently, several Home School Legal Defense Association attorneys collaborated on a memo for social workers. This memo explains how courts all over the country require social workers to honor Fourth Amendment guarantees regarding the prohibition against warrantless entries into homes. We hope these social workers will pass this information to their coworkers and prevent important rights from being violated through lack of knowledge.

HSLDA appreciates Joyce Johnson’s many years of exceptional and untiring service to IAHE and the home school community at large. We prayerfully wish her well in whatever paths the Lord may now lead her as she steps down as executive director. — Scott A. Woodruff
