Religious Freedom Bill Proposed
Sponsored by Representative Eric Croft (D-15), The Alaska Religious Freedom Protection Act, House Bill 387, was introduced February 16, 2000. This bill would prohibit the state from restricting a persons free exercise of religion unless it is essential to further a compelling governmental interest and is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.
HSLDA urges Alaska home educators to contact their representatives and senators in support of this legislation. Several other states have already enacted similar religious freedom laws. Dewitt T. Black
