MISSISSIPPI

Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment Proposed

A constitutional amendment to the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 would provide that the right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children shall not be infringed. Designated as Senate Concurrent Resolution 503 and sponsored by Senator Graham, if passed by the Legislature, the proposed amendment would be submitted to the voters of Mississippi at the general election in November 1995.
