Current law only permits homeschool students to qualify to take college courses under the Post-Secondary Enrollment option if they take and pass a state academic assessment. SF 423 allows homeschool students to demonstrate their readiness instaead by specific scores on the PSAT, ACT or SAT.
HSLDA supports this bill, but we would strongly prefer the bill to be amended so that college course readiness can also be established by the annual CPI year-end assessment. Proposed amendment S-3145 would accomplish this.
03/03/2011 (Senate) Introduced, placed on calendar
03/31/2011 (Senate) Referred back to Education
This bill did not exit the Senate before the session ended, and is now dead.
