House File 534: Early Competent Private Instruction Filing Deadline (Previously House File 144)
Sponsors:
Representatives J. Taylor, Forristall, Lukan, Helland, Tjepkes, Raecker, and Jorgensen
Summary:

This bill originally would have fixed the deadline for the filing of Competent Private Instruction (CPI) forms on July 1, almost a full two months earlier than the current filing deadline of August 26. HSLDA supports having a fixed filing deadline, but it should not be earlier than the date at which public schools in the state usually open. HSLDA requested that the bill be amended to provide a later filing date. The bill was amended in committee, and the reintroduced version (House File 534) now has the filing date set at September 1.
