This bill originally would have fixed the deadline for the filing of Competent Private Instruction (CPI) forms on July 1, almost a full two months earlier than the current filing deadline of August 26. HSLDA supports having a fixed filing deadline, but it should not be earlier than the date at which public schools in the state usually open. HSLDA requested that the bill be amended to provide a later filing date. The bill was amended in committee, and the reintroduced version (House File 534) now has the filing date set at September 1.
01/27/2011 (House) Introduced, referred to Education Committee
02/01/2011 (House) Referred to Education subcommittee
03/03/2011 (House) Introduced as HF 534, placed on calendar.
03/22/2011 (House) Passed House
03/23/2011 (Senate) Mar. 23 11 Referred to Education Committee
This bill failed to exit committee before the session ended, and is now dead.
