This bill would establish a tax credit for homeschool families in Oregon. An eligible child, who is less than 18 years of age during any part of the tax year for which a credit is claimed and who was home educated by his or her parents, would be eligible. This would be for qualified expenses incurred in providing an education for each eligible child. The tax credit claim could not exceed $500, or the actual costs incurred by the qualified taxpayer for books, supplies, and curricula used. The total tax credit allowed under this bill could not exceed the tax liability of the taxpayer.
