House Bill 2535 will require that each school district, open-enrollment charter school, and private school shall require middle, junior high, and high school and higher education students wear reflective clothing or gear while participating in nighttime athletic events or activities. This bill specifically states that, as used in this bill, "'private school' does not include a home school."
HSLDA supports House Bill 2535 as we agree with the legislature that homeschool programs should not be subject to this regulation, which is clearly designed to apply to larger schools, not individual families.
