Dear homeschooling moms,
In Maryland, we are experiencing heavy rain, high winds and a range of emotions as emergency personnel encourage us to prepare for power outages, downed trees and flooding. Of course, we're heeding the warnings as we collect flash lights & batteries, help neighbors & family, and take inventory of food, water, etc. This afternoon, as much of the east coast prepares for hurricane Sandy, my prayer is that all of us would truly sense God's peace.
My purpose in writing this short blog is to encourage you to always stay strong as moms. When storms arise, keep communicating with your children, especially the younger ones, assuring them that God will take care of us, that He is the one who gives peace even when the wind is raging and the waves are high.
Also, I encourage you to keep letting your family know how much you love them. Say, "I love you!" Hug your children (and your husband) often. Hold your little ones close, pray with them, & keep pointing them to the Scriptures -- reading and memorizing verses together.
Jesus assures us in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."
My prayer is that the Lord would carry us through all of life's storms.... that we would trust Him more, grow closer to Him, and closer to one another in the process.
May God bless you & give you His peace. Psalm 145:20 The Lord keeps all who love Him..."
