Happy Easter! Happy Spring!

MaryAnn Gaver

Don't you just love spring time? The colors, fragrances, and beautiful blossoms? With new life awakening all around us, it's the perfect time to celebrate Christ's resurrection, and to impart key spiritual truths to our kids as we go through the breezy days of spring...

If you have young children, I recommend taking some extra time to snuggle on the couch to read books, or venturing outside to discover, observe, and name various flowers and plants. Kids love to study birds, and spend time outdoors whether to observe how mother birds build those incredible nests, or to get their little hands in the dirt to plant a garden. All of these things provide excellent opportunities to talk about creation and God's magnificent creative work all around us.

Here's a great interactive tool for teaching Christ's resurrection—Family Life's Resurrection Eggs. Kids love to hold stuff in their hands and feel different textures and shapes. They get to do just that as they open the egg carton to discover tangible reminders about the Easter story, whether it's a little rock to represent the stone which covered the tomb, or the lightweight gauze symbolizing the grave clothes.

Have a wonderful time celebrating the resurrection. He is risen! Welcome spring!
