Senate Bill 451: Requires Home Schools To Be Taxed the Same As Public Facilities
Sponsors:
Senators Bright, Bryant, Davis, Corbin, Grooms and ShealySummary:
This bill would require that private childcare facilities, private schools, and homeschools be taxed the same as public facilities. Apparently this is an effort to create a tax exemption for homeschools, but since home schools are not taxed now, it’s unclear how the exemption would be applied. It appears that a portion of a residence used as a homeschool would be exempt from property taxes, but this is not expressly stated in the bill.
HSLDA's Position:
This bill should be monitored.
