Summary:

As amended, this bill would prohibit adoption and implementation of any new standards and assessments by the State Board of Education without the advice and consent of the Education Oversight Committee and unless approved by a joint resolution of the legislature. It would also remove South Carolina from the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and prohibit use of its assessments.
