Senate Bill 15: Creates Prekindergarten Programs for 4-Year-Olds
Sponsors:
Senators French, Ellis, and GardnerSummary:
This is an early childhood education bill that would create prekindergarten programs for children who are 4 years old. Although this would begin as a voluntary program, such programs often become mandatory later.
HSLDA's Position:
HSLDA believes that parents, not the state, are best able to determine when a child is ready for formal instruction. HSLDA also opposes any expansion by the state into the area of education. This bill should be opposed.
