This bill would entitle grandparents to obtain visitation of a child over the objections of fit parents. It would delete the existing provisions requiring one or both parents to be deceased, divorced, or living separate and apart; the grandparent to have maintained a parent-like relationship with the child; and the court to find by clear and convincing evidence that the child's parents were unfit before awarding visitation to the grandparent over the objections of the child's parents.
HSLDA believes this bill would violate the right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children. This bill should be opposed.
