House Bill 234: Creates "Vision 2020: An Educational Blueprint for Two Thousand Twenty"
Sponsors:
Representative Scott
Summary:

This bill would create "Vision 2020: An Educational Blueprint for Two Thousand Twenty." While directed primarily at public schools, this bill contains provisions that may affect nonpublic education such as home instruction programs. It appears to adopt aspects of the Common Core State Standards by creating a student tracking system. Further, a system of common standards would be created for both public schools and institutions of higher learning, thereby affecting the ability of homeschoolers to be admitted to college unless they have completed courses that adhere to the common standards. This bill would also create a universal prekindergarten system.
