House Bill 2047: Creates the Individualized Education Account Program
Sponsors:
Representative Moody
Summary:

This bill is a companion bill to Senate Bill 2139. This bill would create the Individualized Education Account Program for special needs students who have an IEP or a 504 accommodation. The Department of Education would provide funds to parents to use for educational expenses at participating nonpublic schools which have agreed to comply with requirements of the program. It would be state funding for the operation of nonpublic schools. While this program may be well intended, it has the potential to increase state control over education.
