Wayne Tully
Wayne Tully, CEO of National Driver Training Institute, is a national expert on driver education and training. He authored the nation’s first “published” graduated driver licensing curriculum, Help for the Teenager Who Wants to Drive.
Sold throughout the United States and three other countries, Wayne’s program has served a guideline across the U.S., aiding lawmakers who wish to write teen driving laws. Wayne’s most recent work, The Last Chance Program, was approved for use in Colorado in February 2008 and is now very first adult driver improvement program that includes on the road assessment.
Because of his experience and knowledge, Wayne is frequently asked to educate lawmakers across the nation about parental involvement in the driver education process. He continues to testify in state legislatures on improving the results of GDL and parent participation for driver education. He has co-authored, supplied witnesses, and/or financially supported a change in driver education and training laws in 28 states. Each of those 28 states carries a victory for parents and teens. In 2004, Wayne was one of 28 people chosen from around the world to address the National Traffic Safety Board in Washington, D.C., on the effectiveness of parents’ involvement in driver education.
Wayne Tully earned his driver education and training degree and certification from the University of New Mexico. He has completed several high level teacher training programs through the National Safety Council and National Traffic Safety Institute.
His programs have been approved through the Department of Education in Virginia, the Department of Public Safety in Texas, Driver Education Compliance in Colorado, the Department of Education in Colorado, the Traffic Safety Bureau in New Mexico, Department of Public Safety in Oklahoma, State of California and a number of other states.
Wayne lives in Monument Colorado with his wife (and junior-high school sweetheart) Jody. They have three children and one grandchild.

1/28/2010 (10:15 PM EST): Driver's Education—Part 1: Mapping out the route
Teaching driver’s education at home can seem like a daunting prospect—but it doesn’t have to be. When Texas became the first state to approve of parent-taught driver education and training in 1996, it set a precedent for what is, today, a recommended strategy for producing safe teenage drivers. As parents, your input in your child’s education is invaluable, and driver’s education is no exception. Join Wayne and find out how to help your child stay safe and drive well. He’ll discuss why it’s essential to use a curriculum for driver’s education and how to choose a good training program, as well as the principles and practices of safe driving.
