What exactly is an @home e-vent?

An @home e-vent combines the latest technology with a top speaker to allow you to attend a real-time, web-based seminar on one of many topics pertinent to your homeschool. It’s like we’re bringing homeschool workshops to your front door. Interact with experts who have the answers to your questions from the comfort of your own living room! And while you’re at it, invite the whole family to join you.

Attending our e-vents is as easy as sitting down at your computer and logging on. We can’t pour you that cup of tea or coffee to sip while listening, but we can provide you with interesting and insightful help that’s only a mouse click away. With a live video feed streaming to your computer, you’re able to watch and listen to speakers, view relevant PowerPoint slides, and participate in Q&A sessions.

E-vents are offered year-round and require registration. Space is limited! If you’re unable to attend a live e-vent, you can watch it at your convenience through the e-vent recordings on our site. Whichever way you choose to utilize this interactive homeschooling help, we are confident that our speakers’ advice, examples, and practical suggestions will provide fresh vision and effective tools to carry you and your family through the school year.

Who can participate?

E-vents are open to both HSLDA members and non-members. However, members receive special member benefits, including discounted prices on every e-vent and access to members-only e-vents. The @home e-vents resource was developed by the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. We have state-specific, members-only, e-vents that are free for members and designed to give you up-to-date information on your state’s homeschooling laws, including recent legislative battles and changes in educational regulations. Bring all pertinent questions for the helpful Q&A sessions following each presentation!

What are e-vent recordings?

HSLDA’s @home e-vent library is a collection of are recordings of past live e-vents. We post recordings two or three business days after an e-vent goes live to allow you to make the most of these web-based learning opportunities. You may listen to any previous e-vent at any time, whenever your schedule allows.

There are two ways to gain access to recordings: either purchase a live e-vent and receive access to the recording of that e-vent or purchase a recording separately. Either way, you receive access to the e-vent for 30 days following your purchase. Select the e-vent that interests you by utilizing the library index or the free standing search.

So, even though you missed “Teaching the Distractible Child” because your six-year-old was more interested in practicing handstands than completing her addition problems, you still have a chance to glean wisdom from the e-vent you need!
