House Bill 2454: Against Discrimination on the Basis of Sexual Orientation
Sponsors:
Reps. Doyle, Brown, Fleischauer, Hutchins, Klempa, Marshall, Michael, Moore, Webster
Summary:
This bill would make it illegal in many situations to extend equal opportunity to an individual on the basis of their “sexual orientation.” In this bill, sexual orientation is defined as “heterosexuality, bisexuality, homosexuality, or gender identity, whether actual or perceived.” Among other prohibitions, employers would not be allowed to refuse to hire an individual based upon their sexual orientation; this would now constitute illegal discrimination.
Status:
| 2/16/2009 | (House) Introduced, sent to House Energy, Industry and Labor, Economic Development and Small Business |
