Senate Bill 246: Special Education and Home School
Sponsor:
Mark I. Shepard (R)
Summary:
Gives a parent the right to have the school district of residence prepare and pay for an individualized education plan for a student with a disability who is enrolled in an independent school or home study program. Arizona and Nevada currently do this, and it has been very helpful. Currently, Vermont requires homeschoolers to provide special education services to children, but does nothing to help. This bill is a good idea.
