Senate Bill 81: Notification Requirement Change and Homeschool Equal Access to Extracurricular Activities

Author:
Senator Mark B. Madsen (R)

Summary:
As originally written, Senate Bill 81 would have simplified homeschoolers’ annual notification requirements by allowing parents to annually file a signed “notice” with the school district rather than a notarized affidavit. Unfortunately, the Senate has removed the language that would make this change. The bill still entitles homeschooled students to participate in extracurricular activities at their local public school.
