Senate Bill 3183: An Act Regarding Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Enrollment
Author:
Senator Thelma Harper
Summary:
This bill would permit children as young as 3 years old to enter a school district’s pre-kindergarten program and as young as 4 years old to enter a kindergarten program. Although such enrollment would be voluntary, history has shown that this type of legislation is the first step in expanding compulsory attendance laws and state control over education.
