House Bill 1178: College Scholarships for Homeschool Students

Author:
Rep. Chris Clem (R-27th District)

Summary:
This bill would use lottery money to create college scholarships. Homeschool students would be included in the program. The bill would require homeschool students to score higher on the ACT or SAT than other students.

Status:
This bill was filed on February 13, 2003, and placed in the House Education Committee.

HSLDA's Position:
HSLDA opposes the creation of lotteries and also opposes any scholarship legislation which discriminates against homeschool graduates. HB 1178 is unacceptable in its present form.
