House Bill 1312: Expands Virtual School to Include Elementary Schools

Author:
Committee on Education

Summary:
Currently, the South Dakota virtual school is designated as a high school. This bill would expand the South Dakota Virtual School to include other grades in addition to high school. This will result in an expansion of the South Dakota virtual school system, an over-funded program which attempts to borrow the homeschool “model”—but with the government at the center rather than parents.
