Senate Bill 457: An Act Concerning Education Tax Credits and Vouchers
Authors:
Senators Grooms, Thomas, Vaughn, McConnell, Bryant, Fair, Hawkins, Mescher, Ryberg, Verdin, Knotts and Campsen
Summary:
This is a tax credit and school voucher bill. It would provide a tax credit of $500 per child each year for homeschool students. Homeschool students would not be eligible to receive voucher money. While HSLDA is philosophically opposed to vouchers, this bill could be supported because homeschoolers are excluded from the voucher provisions and because of the favorable tax credit provisions.
