Senate Bill 217: An Act Establishing Virtual Charter Schools

Authors:
Senators Courson, Hayes, Vaughn, Campsen and Knotts

Summary:
This is a virtual school bill whereby the State Board of Education would be authorized to create these schools. Private school and homeschool students would be eligible for enrollment on a space-available basis. Also charter schools may create virtual programs as well. The bill does not indicate what funding local school districts would receive for students enrolled in these schools. This is a companion bill to House Bill 3097.
