SB 761-A: Favorable Revisions to Homeschool Law Author: Summary: Many thanks to all of you who were faithful to write, e-mail, and call your state legislators. We are encouraged by the great progress made during this legislative session and believe the foundation has been laid for enactment of a bill in the future. Status: Reasons We Supported This Legislation:
Background: If Senate Bill 761 had been enacted, Oregon would have joined a growing majority of states requiring no standardized testing of homeschooled students. Further, public school officials would have had no record of children being homeschooled, because parents would not have been required to even notify public school officials of their decision to conduct home instruction. Oregon had the potential through this legislation to go from a state with a good homeschool law to a state with a great homeschool law. 6/23/2003 - Oregon--Governor Vetoes Homeschool Freedom Bill 6/6/2003 - Oregon--Senate Passes Homeschool Freedom Bill; Calls Needed to Stop Veto 5/30/2003 - Oregon--House Passes Revisions to Homeschool Law 5/19/2003 - Oregon--House Votes Wednesday on Homeschool Bill 5/6/2003 - Oregon--House Education Committee Passes Homeschool Bill 4/29/2003 - Oregon--Committee Hearing on Senate Bill 761 Tomorrow! 4/14/2003 - Oregon--Senate to Vote on Homeschool Bill 4/9/2003 - Oregon--Senate Committee Passes Homeschool Bill 4/7/2003 - Oregon--Committee to Vote on Homeschool Bill Tomorrow 4/2/2003 - Oregon--Committee Hearing on Senate Bill 761 2/28/2003 - Oregon--Favorable Revisions to Homeschool Law |
