Senate Bill 5974: Extracurricular Activities Open to Homeschoolers
Sponsored by Senators Larkin, DeFrancisco, Golden, Maltese, Meier, Mora-Han, Nozzolio, Rath, and Wright.
This bill would have allowed home instructed students to participate in all extracurricular activities, and intraschool, intramural, and extramural athletics that a school district offers.
To be admitted into these programs, the parent of the home instructed pupil would have to submit a request to participate in writing to the school board. The request would have to be made before June 1 preceding the school year in which the parent wanted their child to participate.
