Senate Bill 330: Initiative for a World Class Education
Senator Steven A. Horsford
An Act relating to education; revising provisions relating to the Superintendent of Public Instruction; making various changes regarding the Department of Education, the State Board of Education and various councils and commissions related to the system of public education in Nevada; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
This bill essentially moves the responsibility for public education from the local level to the state. The bill refers to the state’s “pupils” and does not define whether these are public schools, private schools/homeschools, or all of the above. For this reason, this bill has the potential to control private schools and homeschools.
