Senate Bill 2590: GED Required for Cosmetology License
Sponsor:
Shirley K. Turner (D)
Summary:
Previously, a cosmetology license could be issued to anyone with “successful completion of high school or the equivalent.” The phrase “the equivalent” though often understood to mean a GED, could also mean completion of high school in a homeschool setting, since 18A:38-25 refers to “equivalent instruction elsewhere than at school.”"
This bill deletes the “equivalent” language and replaces it with a GED requirement.
Status:
| 3/12/2007 | Introduced in the Senate, Referred to Senate Commerce Committee |
