Senate Bill 241: Would Include Homeschooled Students in the NJ STARS Program
Sponsor:
Senator Anthony Bucco
Summary:
This bill would allow homeschoolers to participate in the NJ STARS Program. However, the inclusion of the word "home-school" in the bill would give an undefined category in New Jersey law because "home-school" is not currently defined. Instead, a New Jersey homeschooled program is legally referred to as "equivalent instruction other than at school."
Status:
| 1/10/2006 | Introduced, Referred to Senate Education Committee |
HSLDA's Position:
Oppose, unless the language of the bill is changed from "home-school" to "equivalent instruction other than at school."
Action Requested:
None requested at this time.
