House Bill 931: Education Tax Credits
Author:
Representative Stam
Summary:
This bill provided a tax credit for public and nonpublic school students. It also authorized the board of county commissioners to appropriate and pay an amount not to exceed $500 to individuals (parents) who are entitled to claim as a personal exemption a child in a nonpublic school.
HSLDA favors tax credits but does not support the idea of families receiving government money for education. This bill could have been supported if the county appropriations provisions were deleted.
